We get asked the same questions regularly. Here are the answers to the most common ones. If yours isn't covered, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Pricing and Quotes
How much does window cleaning cost in the UK?
Across the UK, domestic window cleaning for a three-bedroom house typically costs between £20 and £50 for external only. Prices vary by region and the size of the property. In Northampton, our domestic window cleans start from £25.
How much does a window cleaner cost in Northampton?
Our domestic window cleans start at £25. The exact price depends on how many windows you have, the type of property, and how accessible the windows are. Commercial work is quoted per job. See our pricing page for full details.
Do repeat cleans cost less than one-off cleans?
They tend to, yes. Regular cleans are quicker because the glass doesn't build up as much grime between visits. Regular customers also get priority scheduling.
Can I get a discount for regular window cleaning?
Regular customers benefit from lower per-clean prices because repeat visits are faster and more efficient. We don't publish separate "discount" rates, but the savings are built into the routine pricing. Ask us about setting up a schedule.
Can I get a free window cleaning quote in Northampton?
Yes. Call us on 0800 999 8594, email us, or use the quote form on our contact page. We'll get back to you within 24 hours with a fixed price. No obligation.
Our Process and Equipment
What is a reach and wash system?
A reach and wash system uses telescopic poles to feed purified water up to the windows. The water is run through a filtration process that removes all minerals, so when it dries on the glass it leaves no spots or streaks. Our system, called Thermo Pure, also heats the water to 80 degrees, which is more effective at lifting dirt than cold water.
What is purified water window cleaning?
Purified (or deionised) water has had all its mineral content removed. When ordinary tap water dries on glass, the dissolved minerals leave white spots. Purified water evaporates cleanly, which is why it gives a streak-free finish without needing squeegees or chamois leather.
Do window cleaners clean in the rain?
We do. Because our Thermo Pure system uses purified water, the rain doesn't affect the result. Rainwater itself is relatively clean. The marks you see on windows after rain come from dust on the glass mixing with the water, not from the rain itself. If the glass is already clean, rain just runs off.
Why are my windows still wet after being cleaned?
If we've cleaned them with our pure-water system, a thin film of water is normal and expected. It's deionised water, so it will dry completely clear within a few minutes without any spots. If you notice marks after drying, get in touch and we'll come back under our Streak-Free Promise.
Do window cleaners clean frames and sills too?
We do. We wipe down frames and sills as part of every window clean. Some companies charge extra for this, but we think it's part of the job.
Will they clean inside the windows too?
We offer inside and outside window cleaning. External cleans are included as standard. For internal cleaning, let us know when you request your quote and we'll price it separately.
How long does window cleaning take?
It depends on the property. A standard three-bedroom house typically takes 20 to 40 minutes for external windows. Larger homes, commercial buildings, and properties with access challenges take longer.
Safety and Insurance
Should a window cleaner be insured?
Yes. If someone is working at height on your property and they're not insured, you could be exposed to liability if something goes wrong. We carry £10 million in employers' liability insurance. We also provide a risk assessment and method statement with every commercial quote. You can view our certificates on our About page.
What insurance should a window cleaner have?
At minimum, a professional window cleaner should have public liability insurance (which covers damage to your property) and employers' liability insurance (which covers their staff). We carry £10 million in employers' liability insurance and are SafeContractor approved.
Do window cleaners need a licence in the UK?
There's no legal requirement for a window cleaner to hold a licence in the UK. However, reputable operators will have relevant qualifications (like our NVQ Level 2), safety training (IPAF for platform work), and insurance. Accreditations like SafeContractor are a good indicator of professionalism.
Booking and Scheduling
Do I need to be home when the window cleaner comes?
For external-only cleans, no. We'll do the work and let you know when it's done. For internal window cleaning, someone needs to be in to give us access to each room.
How often should I have my windows cleaned?
For most homes, every four to eight weeks keeps them looking good. Commercial properties in busy locations might need weekly or fortnightly cleans. We'll recommend a schedule based on your property and location.
How often should commercial windows be cleaned?
It depends on the building and its location. A retail shop on a busy high street might need weekly cleans. An office on a business park could manage monthly. We'll discuss the right frequency when we quote for your commercial clean.
Do window cleaners do gutters as well?
We do. We offer gutter cleaning, fascia and soffit cleaning, conservatory roof cleaning, solar panel cleaning, and cladding cleaning alongside our window cleaning service. Most companies only do glass.
How do I find a trustworthy window cleaner?
Look for insurance cover, relevant qualifications, and accreditations. Check reviews from real customers. Ask whether they provide a written quote upfront. A SafeContractor approval means their health and safety has been independently audited. We tick all of those boxes and are happy to show you our certificates.
